Lionsgate’s remake of Conan the Barbarian starring Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) is coming to Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, and DVD on November 22 on R1 (Usa) and December 12 on R2 (Uk).
Conan the Barbarian, which was directed by Marcus Nispel and co-stars Rachel Nichols, Rose McGowan, Stephen Lang and Ron Perlman, struggled at the box office after its release on August 19. An opening weekend of only $10, and a domestic total of $21.2 million, were both well off the film’s reported $90 million production budget.
The Blu-ray 3D version of Conan the Barbarian is a combo pack including the Blu-ray 2D, DVD and digital copies. The Blu-ray 2D version, however, is a single disc and format set.
Lionsgate has priced the Conan the Barbarian 2D version at $37.99 and the 3D combo pack only $2 more. It’s clear which set Lionsgate wants you to buy, especially since only the 3D set is currently available for pre-order at Amazon (even though it doesn’t say 3D next to the listing yet). Were as the DVD and Blu-Ray for the UK R2 are on HMV.com at £11.99 and £16.99 no 3D at this time.
Bonus features on both Blu-ray editions include two audio commentaries, a history of the Conan franchise featurette, “The Man Who Would Be Conan: Robert E. Howard” featurette, and two additional featurettes examining the action and fight scenes.
You can pre-order the Blu-Rays (3D/2D) and DVD here.
R1 – $27.99 Blu-Ray 3D on Amazon
R2 – £16.99 Blu-Ray 2D on HMV
R1 – £11.99 DVD on HMV

Rachel Nichols is best known to audiences for her supporting roles in gargantuan blockbusters like the green Orion Gaila in Star Trek, Scarlett in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, and the recent Conan the Barbarian reboot. She’s doing a complete 180 for the new indie feature A Bird of the Air, a small, intimate comedy-drama about two misfit souls who meet and bond around a parrot.
She co-stars with Jackson Hurst and is directed by actress Margaret Whitton. We had a lively, exclusive chat with the hot young actress (and Maxim covergirl) about male vs. female stalkers, her reading habits, and the currently-filming I, Alex Cross in which she co-stars with Tyler Perry.
ComingSoon.net: You’ve done some big behemoth movies lately. How much of a relief was it to go and do a little two-hander like this?
Nichols: Exactly. I love the big films, I love the action stuff. I love blowing things up and riding horses and killing people and hitting bloodbags and having fight scenes, that’s very much in my wheelhouse. However, this was the first time where I really could freely create a character. It was so nice to leave the guns and the fight scenes and the cavalry behind and come to this little tiny two-hander… I mean, years ago I did a thriller with Wes Bentley called “P2″ and that was also a two-hander.
CS: Little different tone.
Nichols: Little different tonally! That was horror, fighting for my life, and this is the slightly darker version of a romantic comedy.
CS: There’s still some screaming and crying.
Nichols: Yeah yeah yeah, of course. I can’t make it out completely unscathed. My parents at one point said, “Can you do a movie where you’re not in peril and tons of crying and sex scenes?” It’s very funny. Jackson and I have kind of a make-out scene in this, but still it’s uncomfortable for parents.

Rachel was on the show PIX Morning News on 13th, September for her name movie A Bird Of The Air.
Mystery novelist James Patterson has seen his most popular creation, detective/psychologist Dr. Alex Cross, portrayed twice on the big screen by Oscar winning actor Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby). First in ‘1997s Kiss the Girls co-starring Ashley Judd (Heat), and secondly in ‘2001s Along Came a Spider co-starring Monica Potter (Con-Air). But soon actor/director Tyler Perry (Madea’s Big Happy Family, I Can Do Bad All by Myself) will be taking over the role from Freeman in the upcoming film I, Alex Cross, which will act as a prequel to the other films. The movie is directed by Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious, xXx) and in addition to Perry stars Ed Burns (Saving Private Ryan, She’s the One), Rachel Nichols (Star Trek, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Conan the Barbarian), Jean Reno (Ronin, Leon: The Professional), Matthew Fox (Lost, Speed Racer), John C. McGinley (Platoon, Seven), Giancarlo Esposito (The Usual Suspects, Smoke), and Cicely Tyson (The Help, Bustin’ Loose).
Today I had a chance to speak with actress Rachel Nichols about her new film A Bird of the Air, which opens in select theaters on September 23rd. While I had the actress on the phone I asked her about I, Alex Cross, how filming is going, her character, director Rob Cohen’s vision for the movie, and how Tyler Perry is doing taking over the role from Morgan Freeman. I also took the opportunity to ask the actress about J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek (which also featured Tyler Perry) and her role as Orion born Starfleet Academy Cadet Gaila. I asked the popular actress what she’s heard about the impending sequel, and if she thinks that her character will make a return. Here is what she had to say:
Hey Rachel, how’s filming on ‘I, Alex Cross” going? Have you finished shooting your scenes yet?
Rachel Nichols: I have shot about half of them. I left to go to New York and do a couple of days of press and then I’m going back to Cleveland tomorrow. We’re shooting in Cleveland the rest of the week and then the whole company is moving to Detroit and I’ll be there until the end of the month.
